Course content
The course covers:
- the role, functions, and classification of warehouses;
- distribution-network design and facility location;
- warehouse costs, performance measures, and activity profiling;
- space planning, layout, material-handling equipment, aisle width, and lane depth;
- receiving, put-away, cross-docking, storage, slotting, order picking, routing, replenishment, and shipping;
- robotic and automated warehouses and the physical internet.
The current course design combines an exam with group assignments. The course site contains the syllabus, lectures, assignments, computational examples, and supporting material.
