Warehouse Operations and Performance Diagnosis

Turn warehouse flows and operating data into an evidence-based performance diagnosis.

Warehouse zones connected by a highlighted material flow and a performance chart.

Core evidenceFlows, costs, KPIs, and activity profiles

CourseworkMilestone 1: Activity Profiling starts with a Q&A route

How can we tell where a warehouse is losing performance before proposing a solution?

This module introduces the warehouse as a system of flows and processes. You will learn how to turn operating data into an evidence-based performance diagnosis, using activity profiling and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trade-offs and improvement opportunities.

By the end of this module, you can

  • explain the role, functions, and principal material flows of a warehouse;
  • distinguish picker-to-parts and parts-to-picker order-picking systems;
  • connect strategic, tactical, and operational decisions;
  • interpret costs and performance indicators as evidence of trade-offs; and
  • structure an activity profile for a first diagnosis.
